From Basel: Daytrip to Gruyères with castle and cheese-factory

A journey back in time. Discover the picturesque beauty of the Gruyères region and be enchanted by a multitude of breathtaking sights. This day trip takes place weekly every Monday and brings you on an unforgettable journey to the medieval town of Gruyères, where you can get close to the Alps.

First stop: The renowned show dairy “La Maison du Gruyère”. Cheese lovers will be in their element as they learn all about the AOP-protected Gruyère cheese, the favourite cheese of the Swiss.

Next, our journey leads you through the narrow cobblestone streets of the village of Gruyères. Stroll through the charming alleys and admire the well-preserved historic buildings. Here, you have the opportunity to try one of the famous Moité-Moité fondues and savour the flavour of the region.

The highlight of the day is undoubtedly the visit to the majestic 13th-century Gruyères Castle. Immerse yourself in the history and splendour of this imposing castle that towers high above the valley. Marvel at the magnificent architecture, the intricate details and the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

The day trip offers the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty and charm of the Gruyères region in just one day from Basel, while discovering a piece of Switzerland. With a unique blend of history, culture, nature and cuisine, we create an unforgettable experience for you.
